Where do you see yourself ten years from now? A white-collar worker in some plush Makati office or maybe an entrepreneur in your home province? Like dreams, the list is endless. While it is easy to envision one's self in the future, the only way dreams could be realized is if one has enough conviction and commitment.
Otherwise, these become simply daydreams - fanciful, fleeting and unachievable.
But then, are your dreams practical? You may want to become an engineer or a doctor in the future, but you easily get bored with numbers and the sciences. Or you might dream of being a top-notch filmmaker, but your parents are simple wage-earners and the tuition could really be out of your reach.
If you want to be an accountant, or a teacher - well, this could be a dream worth working forward for.
But then, are you sure these are the professions that our country needs? Are you sure your school could provide quality instruction so you will be able to pass the board exams?
Here is an important fact that you might want to consider.
For school year 2004-2005, about 436,994 young men and women received their college diplomas from the country's various colleges and universities. Sadly, not all of these new graduates will be able to land a job.
The main reason, according to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), is the significant mismatch between what the economy actually needs in terms of jobs and the courses commonly preferred by students.
